The Vision: A Center for All Generations
The Harbor Center is more than a building — it’s a place where people of all ages can connect, learn, and celebrate.
Born out of the community’s long-standing need for a dedicated senior center, the Harbor Center has evolved into a shared vision: A place that serves our seniors, strengthens our families, celebrates our culture, provides opportunities for community connection, and protects our environment.
For Seniors
A dedicated, permanent home for health, wellness, social connection, and independence among older adults.
For Families & Community
An accessible and welcoming event and gathering space for civic, cultural, and private celebrations and programs.
For Learning & Environment
Classrooms, trails, and an outdoor campus for education, conservation, and hands-on environmental programs.
The Case for Support
Addressing the Community's Most Pressing Needs
Since 2000, Gig Harbor’s senior population has grown dramatically — increasing by nearly 86% among residents aged 65 and older. While the Gig Harbor Senior Center has worked diligently to meet these needs, it has operated from a shared, non-purpose-built space since 2019. At the same time, the community lacks flexible spaces for events, performances, and other gatherings— and opportunities for residents of all ages to connect with nature and one another.
The Harbor Center directly addresses these needs by establishing a permanent, purpose-built facility that unites senior programs, shared community spaces, and protected lands.
Reduce social isolation and support independence for older adults.
Strengthen community belonging and foster intergenerational learning.
Protect our local environment and promote hands-on stewardship.
“This project represents the best of Gig Harbor — collaboration, stewardship, and compassion.” — Gig Harbor Resident
